The paint on the Xiaomi SU7 looks very glossy. What makes it special? Some tests have found inconsistent paint film thickness. What is the reason for this?
The Xiaomi SU7 adopts an industry-leading 3C2B coating process, consisting of a total of 8 layers of coating. The added intermediate coating process not only makes the paint film thicker and improves visual effects but also increases the UV isolation rate from 99% to approximately 99.9%, thereby better protecting the electrophoretic paint. It also demonstrates excellent anti-oxidation and anti-aging performance.
Under the premise of the 8-layer paint spraying process, Xiaomi uses advanced Dürr 7-axis spraying robots. The atomizer cup rotation speed can reach 70,000 rpm, and the atomization effect ensures higher paint film flatness. Additionally, we have self-developed intermediate coating sanding robots that use 800-grit sandpaper to remove 3-5μm of paint layer, further effectively improving paint surface flatness and controlling the vehicle's paint film thickness between 100 and 140μm;
Based on videos of users testing paint thickness themselves, we speculate that there may be certain deviations in the data, and other influencing factors cannot be ruled out. We also welcome various media outlets to visit our factory for on-site inspections to further understand Xiaomi's coating process and conduct on-site verification.
