Why is the charging power sometimes not high enough to reach the peak?
When the Xiaomi SU7 connects to a charging gun to start charging, the battery's initial state of charge and temperature will affect the charging power. During the charging process, the cell temperature rises steadily. If the initial cell temperature is too low, the power cannot reach its peak; furthermore, as the battery gradually fills up, the charging power decreases. These are intelligent charging strategies of the Battery Management System (BMS), which make cell charging safer and extend its service life.
When navigating to a charging station using the in-car map, the vehicle will preheat the battery to improve charging rate, ensuring the battery reaches optimal power status faster during charging.
Additionally, the Xiaomi SU7 Max's BMS features "Atomic Charging Technology," which provides up to 50 times finer charging granularity to adapt to different temperatures and states of charge. This can reduce charging time by up to 9.8% and increase average charging power by up to 11kW.
