Why does the racing kit come with two sets of tires? What is the difference between semi-slick tires and regular tires?
Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is "suitable for both street and track." The racing kit is equipped with two sets of tires: Pirelli P ZERO TROFEO RS semi-slick tires and Pirelli P ZERO 5 high-performance tires, both custom-made by Xiaomi and Pirelli, targeting track scenarios and daily use respectively.
Semi-slick tires are designed for track scenarios. They use a special rubber compound that slightly softens the tread when the temperature rises, creating a sticky surface to enhance contact with the road. Therefore, semi-slick tires require a certain operating temperature (above 30°C) to perform optimally, are not suitable for rainy, snowy, slippery roads, or low-temperature environments, and require drivers to possess certain track driving skills. The tires used by Xiaomi SU7 Ultra when setting the fastest lap record for a production car at Shanghai International Circuit were Pirelli P ZERO TROFEO RS semi-slick tires.
Compared to semi-slick tires, Pirelli P ZERO 5 high-performance tires can perform normally at room temperature without preheating, have broader adaptability, and are more wear-resistant and quieter, making them more suitable for daily use.
