Why establish the Xiaomi EV European R&D Center in Germany?

Official answer

Five years ago, from the day we announced our entry into car manufacturing, building a dream car for drivers has been the original aspiration that Xiaomi EV has adhered to. Every step we have taken over these five years has been solid. Xiaomi EV's goal is very firm: to become one of the top five automakers globally within 15 to 20 years. To achieve such a goal, we must have the courage to compete head-to-head with the world's top automakers on the world's peak racetracks.

To build cars well, last March, we established the Xiaomi EV European R&D Center in Munich, Germany, the heartland of the global automotive industry. In the automotive world, Germany is considered to have the richest talent pool for high-end automotive brands, globally leading universities in automotive engineering, and top-tier suppliers, as well as world-class tracks like the Nürburgring Nordschleife. This is of significant help to the establishment of Xiaomi EV's global R&D system and our efforts to tackle high-performance technologies. Xiaomi EV hopes to combine Germany's advantages in driving and performance with China's leadership in the automotive fields of battery, motor, electronic control, intelligence, and technology, integrating them into Xiaomi's "Human x Car x Home" smart ecosystem to form a unique and differentiated competitiveness globally. At the same time, in Germany, accepting global regulation and gaining the recognition and trust of local Europeans can help Xiaomi broaden its product capabilities and make the world truly buy into Chinese brands.

Car manufacturing is a marathon, and Xiaomi EV still has a long way to go. "Building a dream car" is not just a slogan, but a down-to-earth action at every step. We are determined to go all out and compete to the end with top automakers in the place where car manufacturing is the most advanced.
