Long-term Episode 14 · Question 4

Does it support passive unlocking via mobile phone proximity? Is a specific phone required? Does the software need to run continuously in the background?

Official answer

After activating the mobile phone Bluetooth key, you can unlock by pulling the door handle: simply carrying the phone near the vehicle and opening the door will unlock it. You can also enable unlock/lock via proximity. After enabling this feature in the vehicle's "Settings" - "Doors and Locks" page, carrying the phone near the vehicle will achieve passive unlocking; carrying the phone away from the vehicle will cause the car to automatically lock, accompanied by flashing lights and a horn alert.

This feature does not require a specific brand of phone. However, due to memory limitations and performance strategies of various phone manufacturers, the Xiaomi Auto APP process may be terminated by the system, leading to unlock failures. If you encounter issues with the mobile phone Bluetooth key failing to unlock or lock, please ensure that the Xiaomi Auto APP is running in the foreground or background.

If your device is a Xiaomi phone, we recommend opening the Xiaomi Auto APP, navigating to "Keys and Security," clicking on the "Unstable proximity auto-unlock? Go to settings" link within the Bluetooth key card, and then selecting "No restrictions" to improve the success rate of passive unlock/lock.
