Long-term Episode 24 · Question 3

Since the Xiaomi SU7 windows have undergone silver plating treatment, is it still necessary to apply sun film?

Official answer

The Xiaomi SU7 is equipped with a large panoramic roof glass featuring double-layer silver plating, which better reflects sunlight to achieve sun protection and heat insulation effects. The ultraviolet (UV) blocking rate reaches 99.9%, and the infrared (IR) blocking rate reaches 99.1%.

The sun protection experience of the windshield is even more prominent. Many female drivers wear arm sleeves in summer to protect against the sun while driving. To address this pain point, we adopted a triple-layer silver-plated windshield. We are currently the only sedan to adopt this technology and experience. The triple-layer silver-plated windshield achieves a UV blocking rate of 99.5% and an IR blocking rate of 97.6%, significantly lowering the overall temperature inside the vehicle.

This is not all. The four door window glasses of the Xiaomi SU7 all utilize UV-IR coating technology, achieving a UV blocking rate of 99.9% for all four doors. The vehicle's overall sun protection and heat insulation capabilities reach industry-leading levels, meeting your sun protection needs comprehensively.

In summary, the Xiaomi SU7's glass offers excellent sun protection and heat insulation, so applying film is not required. If you still wish to apply film, especially on the windshield, we recommend choosing a high-transparency film to avoid affecting visibility.
