Can the original dashcam function of the Xiaomi SU7 record audio?

Official answer

We place great importance on user privacy and security; therefore, the dashcam function does not record audio. The original dashcam function of the Xiaomi SU7 records video footage during driving by utilizing the front camera, rear surround-view cameras, left rear side-view camera, and right rear side-view camera, but it does not utilize the vehicle's interior microphone or other similar devices. Furthermore, all information involving user personal privacy across the entire vehicle requires explicit user authorization.

To use the dashcam function, you need to insert the dedicated dashcam USB flash drive provided with your vehicle purchase into the passenger glove box. Then, go to the Dashcam page under Safety & Services to toggle the dashcam function on or off.

If you wish to save footage of an emergency moment while driving, you can use the following methods:

Swipe down from the top-left edge of the central control screen to open the Control Center, then tap Dashcam. The system will save 1 minute of video prior to the tap and 30 seconds of video after the tap. Special Note: If the dashcam function is turned off, tapping Dashcam in the Control Center will first enable the dashcam function; you must tap it again to activate the Control Center's save feature. If the dashcam function is already enabled, tapping Dashcam in the Control Center will directly activate the save feature.

In the Dashcam page under Safety & Services, you can also enable the "Horn Save" function. This function saves dashcam video to the USB device for a period before and after the vehicle honks. Special Note: The "Horn Save" function can only be enabled after the dashcam function is turned on.

In the event of an emergency accident, the dashcam will automatically save emergency video footage covering 60 seconds before the incident and 30 seconds after the incident.
