Why did Xiaomi EV adopt a "long hood" design?
Proportion is the soul of automotive design and the pursuit of Xiaomi EV design. Whether it is the Xiaomi SU7 or the Xiaomi YU7, we insist on making a long hood, pursuing beauty to the extreme and making the overall vehicle proportions more balanced and elegant.
A long hood is a recognized aesthetic benchmark in automotive design. Here, there is a fundamental element of automotive design called the long "L113", which is an aesthetic accumulation of decades or even centuries. It makes a car look proportionally harmonious at first glance. Simply put, L113 is the distance from the base of the A-pillar to the center of the front wheel, which can also be understood as representing the length of the hood. The L113 of the Xiaomi YU7 gives the entire vehicle a head-to-body ratio of approximately 1:3. Coupled with tight front and rear overhangs, the overall visual impact is very strong.
While maintaining a long L113 and a sufficiently aesthetic exterior, the Xiaomi YU7 also focuses on space. The goal is clear—to make the space of the Xiaomi YU7 sufficiently practical for both oneself and ordinary families.
In addition, the long hood, combined with the front windshield, provides a good angle for airflow to cut in, allowing the airflow to move more smoothly, which also helps to reduce aerodynamic drag.
