Long-term Episode 213 · Question 3

The 2025 version of the new national battery standard will officially come into effect on July 1, 2026. Does the battery of the new-generation SU7 comply with this new national standard?

Official answer

Every model of Xiaomi EV possesses complete and reliable battery safety performance. Currently, all Xiaomi EV models on the market, including the discontinued first-generation SU7 and the upcoming new-generation SU7, already meet or even exceed the battery-related safety standards of the 2025 new national standard. Below, we introduce a few of them:

Battery temperature and battery pack state of charge: The new national standard requires the battery pack temperature to be 22°C ± 5°C, with an SoC of 95%, and an alarm signal must be issued within 5 minutes of a single cell thermal runaway, with smoke not causing danger to the passenger cabin within 5 minutes, and ultimately no thermal runaway of the entire pack; Xiaomi EV's standard is a battery pack temperature of 55°C, with an SoC of 97%~100%, imposing higher requirements on thermal isolation;

Battery bottom ball impact test: The new national standard requires a 30mm impact head with 150J of energy, no leakage after impact, shell rupture, fire, or explosion, and insulation meeting 100Ω/V; Xiaomi EV's standard uses a 25mm diameter impact head (the smaller the ball head, the greater the pressure and the higher the protection difficulty), with post-impact insulation meeting 500Ω/V, and we additionally stipulate that it must meet IPX7 short-term water immersion after the test;

Post-cell cycling test: This test is used to verify the safety and reliability of the battery system after fast-charging scenarios increase; the new national standard requires a short-circuit test after 300 fast charges; Xiaomi EV's standard requires a short-circuit test after 1,000 fast charges;

In addition, Xiaomi EV's battery pack testing standards for vibration, mechanical shock, simulated collision, crush, damp heat cycling, and water immersion thermal propagation all exceed the national standards;

Important reminder: The above battery safety designs are established within certain conditional standards. Everyone should pay attention to safe driving in daily life and never speed.
