Will the carbon fiber steering wheel affect the hands-off detection for assisted driving?
Due to the material characteristics and structure of the carbon fiber steering wheel, the carbon fiber areas on the steering wheel currently cannot have built-in capacitive sensing. When assisted driving is enabled, you need to hold the steering wheel at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions for the capacitive sensors to detect the driver's hands gripping the wheel. To optimize this experience, we have added torque sensing for the new-generation SU7 equipped with the optional carbon fiber steering wheel. You can dismiss the hands-off warning by lightly turning the steering wheel, but false alarms causing disturbances may still occur. Please consider this information when deciding whether to opt for the carbon fiber steering wheel;
We recommend keeping both hands in the standard 3 and 9 o'clock grip position when the feature is enabled, paying close attention to road conditions, and being ready to take control of the vehicle at any time.
