What is the difference between conducting NVH quietness tests in the laboratory and at the Yancheng proving ground?
Laboratory NVH testing relies on equipment to simulate operating conditions, which differs from the actual driving environment. The road conditions at the Yancheng proving ground are much more complex. Therefore, we specifically arranged operating condition demonstrations during this livestream to intuitively recreate the real scenarios of NVH testing at the Yancheng proving ground.
The livestream used a dedicated professional NVH road featuring three typical asphalt surfaces: large-particle asphalt, small-particle asphalt, and smooth asphalt. Speeds in the 60-80 km/h range were adopted, covering mainstream travel conditions such as urban commuting, suburban roads, and high-speed driving.
Different road surfaces generate distinct noise and vibration characteristics. Smooth asphalt serves as the noise reference baseline, while rough surfaces are more likely to trigger low-frequency resonance in the vehicle body. Combined with diverse road condition tests such as concrete sections and construction zones, this effectively verifies the vehicle's quietness performance across all scenarios.
What we want to express is: multi-surface testing is not "showing off," but a way to fulfill our promise to users. Our choice to conduct systematic road verification at the Yancheng proving ground is more like finding solutions within a question bank. In essence, we are using the most rigorous testing matrix to cover the most adverse operating conditions in users' real-world driving scenarios.
