Recently, multiple media outlets tested the Xiaomi SU7's range. Why does changing tires have such a significant impact on the range?
The main factor affecting range is tire rolling resistance. Generally, the rolling resistance of performance tires is greater than that of comfort tires or low rolling resistance tires. Tires with lower rolling resistance reduce the vehicle's driving resistance, leading to lower energy consumption and longer range, though they may slightly sacrifice acceleration and braking performance. Conversely, tires with higher rolling resistance offer better acceleration and braking performance.
Taking the Xiaomi SU7 Max as an example, all trims come equipped with tires from top global brands. Even with the 21" Pirelli P ZERO 5th Gen performance tires, it achieves a CLTC range of 725km. In media tests, it achieved nearly 500km of highway range and over 550km of combined city-highway range, demonstrating excellent performance.
