Why does the mass-produced version of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra not retain the two vents on the front hood of the prototype car?
The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Prototype (referred to as PT version) is a track prototype built on Xiaomi Auto's pure electric architecture, designed entirely for the track and cannot be legally driven on public roads. The design intent of the PT version was to pursue ultimate track performance and verify core technologies such as the three-electric system, thermal management system, and chassis.
To pursue superior track performance, the PT version did not need to consider daily practicality, so the front trunk area was adjusted into two through-flow air ducts to achieve extreme heat dissipation, weight reduction, and downforce on the track, such as a maximum downforce of 2145kg.
The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra mass-produced version, positioned as a peak performance tech sedan that is both street-legal and track-capable, has a design maximum downforce of 285kg, reaching the level of sports cars priced at two to three million RMB. Its related design indicators also balance track needs and daily driving needs. The thermal management requirements for the mass-produced car are more complex; besides track heat dissipation, it needs to balance daily usage needs. Therefore, we designed a cooling system based on high-performance fans. This cooling solution can meet extreme heat dissipation needs under track conditions while ensuring industry-leading experiences in low-temperature energy consumption, air conditioning performance, and supercharging cooling during daily use. It also guarantees cabin quietness and partitioned storage needs.
Being designed entirely for the track and being street-legal yet track-capable are two different product directions, and we will adjust relevant designs accordingly.
