If the Xiaomi SU7 is parked for a long time in low-temperature conditions, will the small battery run out of power?

Official answer

Whether it is a fuel vehicle or a new energy vehicle, long-term static storage in low temperatures can potentially lead to a depleted small battery, ultimately preventing the vehicle from starting. However, the Xiaomi SU7 comes standard with a lithium-ion small battery, which has better cold-start performance compared to traditional lead-acid batteries. Additionally, through its built-in BMS (Battery Management System), it implements intelligent charging and intelligent power retention controls, maximizing the avoidance of small battery depletion caused by long-term static storage in low temperatures.

Intelligent charging means that when the small battery's charge falls below a certain threshold, the vehicle automatically connects the high-voltage battery to recharge the small battery, thereby reducing the likelihood of small battery depletion. This process is controlled intelligently without user intervention; meanwhile, the high-voltage battery also has a safety threshold to prevent the high-voltage battery from being completely drained during long-term parking.

Intelligent power retention means that when the high-voltage battery's charge drops below the safety threshold and can no longer recharge the small battery, and the small battery's charge also drops to a lower safety threshold, the entire vehicle automatically disconnects the power supply circuit. It then notifies the user via the Xiaomi Auto APP. At this point, returning to the vehicle allows for normal unlocking and starting without requiring rescue; simply charging nearby with a charging gun will restore normal vehicle functions.

The above intelligent charging and intelligent power retention features can both maximize ensuring that the small battery does not deplete, the high-voltage battery does not deplete, and the vehicle does not break down, while also avoiding damage to the small battery. Furthermore, the lifespan of the Xiaomi SU7's lithium-ion small battery is far longer than that of traditional lead-acid small batteries, resulting in lower ownership costs, and its weight and volume are both superior to those of traditional lead-acid small batteries.

Friendly reminder: Although the Xiaomi SU7's lithium-ion small battery possesses strong low-temperature performance, to ensure your driving experience and vehicle health status, it is still not recommended to leave the vehicle stationary for extended periods.
