Does running the heating air conditioner in P gear inside the car consume a lot of electricity in winter?

Official answer

It does consume electricity, but not "excessively," so please rest assured.

The heating principle of pure electric vehicles involves consuming electricity to generate heat to warm the cabin and maintain temperature. Therefore, AC heating requires electrical consumption. However, the Xiaomi SU7 achieves low AC energy consumption through a series of industry-leading technologies included as standard, so please feel free to use the AC.

First, the Xiaomi SU7 comes standard with the industry's first dual-mode heat pump technology, ensuring exceptionally excellent thermal management efficiency. In principle, the heat output of a heat pump system is greater than the electrical energy consumed, whereas the heat output of a heater is less than the electrical energy consumed; thus, heat pumps are more energy-efficient than heaters. The Xiaomi SU7's industry-first dual-mode heat pump technology allows the heat pump to cover more scenarios, minimizing the use of heaters. Additionally, through special designs of the outdoor heat exchanger and compressor, the heat pump can maintain comfortable cabin temperatures even in -15°C environments without needing to additionally turn on the heater. Both of these factors reduce AC energy consumption.

Furthermore, the Xiaomi SU7 adopts an industry-leading humidity balance AI algorithm. This ensures that the interior glass does not fog up while minimizing the proportion of outside air circulation, thereby reducing heat loss from the cabin, decreasing the demand for AC heating, and consequently lowering AC energy consumption.
