Long-term Episode 97 · Question 4

How do different tire tread patterns and wheel designs affect the vehicle's performance and range?

Official answer

Different tire tread patterns affect the vehicle's grip, while wheels of varying weights impact the unsprung mass, which in turn influences the overall acceleration, braking, and handling performance. Different tire sizes affect the vehicle's rolling resistance, and different wheel designs also impact aerodynamic performance, thereby affecting the driving range.

Taking the Xiaomi SU7 Max as an example, if you prefer a quieter and more comfortable ride, you can choose the 20-inch wheels equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport EV tires, which feature built-in acoustic foam to effectively reduce tire noise. If you want a better handling experience, you can opt for the 21-inch wheels with Pirelli P ZERO 5 tires, which effectively enhance grip and sporty performance.

The Xiaomi SU7 Max achieves a 0-100 km/h acceleration of 2.78 seconds and a CLTC range of 800 kilometers, making it the only pure electric vehicle in China to simultaneously achieve 2-second-class acceleration and an 800-kilometer range. In media testing, the Xiaomi SU7 Pro achieved an actual range of 804 kilometers, with a range achievement rate as high as 96.87%.
