To create a three-dimensional effect, "Amethyst" uses a double-layer clear coat. Craftsmen first dry-sand the first clear coat layer once with 1500-grit sandpaper to improve adhesion between the paint layers;
On the second clear coat layer, they perform a second dry-sanding with 1500-grit sandpaper to enhance surface flatness; then, using water as a lubricant, they perform one wet-sanding pass with finer 3000-grit sandpaper to make the surface smoother, bringing out the luster of "Amethyst";
Finally, two polishing steps are performed to achieve an ultimate mirror effect. The first polishing uses soft, elastic lamb's wool and high-efficiency polishing compound to remove shallow scratches on the paint surface and impart a natural gloss; the second polishing is more refined, using a sponge pad + high-performance polishing compound for detailed sculpting, making the paint texture smoother and more transparent;
The final result is a paint surface with almost no orange peel effect, giving it an instant "bright" appearance.
Moreover, "Amethyst" benefits from the "4C3B" process, undergoing four coating applications and three high-temperature baking cycles. Compared to Xiaomi's mass-produced vehicles, the paint film thickness of "Amethyst" is increased by 31%; it also appears "thicker" at first glance, combining reflection from the mirror effect with three-dimensional refraction from the thicker paint film, ultimately achieving a crystal-like sense of depth and transparency.
