What is the "4C3B" process?

Official answer

"4C3B" is a high-quality painting process commonly found in some luxury car brands that emphasize premium feel and exterior quality, serving as a benchmark for measuring high-quality paint. Here, C stands for Coating (spraying), and B stands for Baking. This means four spray applications and three baking cycles (excluding primer spraying and baking). The sequence is: Intermediate Coat - Bake - Base Coat - Clear Coat - Bake- Clear Coat - Bake. Through this painting process, the paint sees significant improvements in surface texture and protective qualities.

The new paint color "Amethyst" in this round of "Xiaomi Customization Service" adopts the "4C3B" process. It includes one additional spray and one additional baking cycle compared to other Xiaomi mass-produced cars, resulting in a thicker, more transparent, and three-dimensional overall paint film, with paint film thickness increased by 31% compared to mass-produced vehicles.
