What is the difference between the forged wheels provided in this 'Xiaomi Custom Service' and the previously mass-produced forged wheels?
This "Xiaomi Custom Service" launches newly designed 4-color forged wheels (Amber Gold, Lunar Rock Silver, Mirror Silver, Carbon Black), adopting a more complex milling process, with milling time nearly three times that of previous forged wheels. To create the more three-dimensional, hollowed-out, and slender Xiaomi Custom forged wheels, we applied over 20 different cutting tools, spending a total of 11 hours carving the shape:
First, height differences need to be created between the wheel spokes to highlight the three-dimensional effect;
Second, 10 hollow rectangular window holes are designed to make the spokes appear thinner and sharper, further enhancing the three-dimensional effect. However, because these hollow holes are deep and narrow, we could only use slender cutting tools for precise carving, which took almost half of the entire milling time, 5.7 hours;
Finally, we used special ball-end mills, also known as "lollipop cutters," to mill 10 concave indentations on the side of the spokes, making the spoke sides extremely deep and even thinner.
Moreover, Xiaomi Auto forged wheels adopt aviation-grade aluminum alloy materials, offering stronger mechanical properties, bringing thinner spokes, more complex hollowing, and sharper surface cuts.
