To achieve a completely flat floor, extra-long slide rails, and a square space, systematic adjustments must be made to the chassis at the architecture level. The core concept of the Xiaomi Kunlun Technology Architecture is to rearrange components and extremely compress their height within limited vertical space, without sacrificing the passability and suspension comfort of an SUV. Below, we will introduce this using the N90 Max as an example:

First is vertical compression, where we took three key actions:

  • First, the rear electric drive adopts a highly integrated coaxial layout with the electronic control system placed at the front. This reduces the floor thickness at the electric drive position by 145mm, allowing the third-row floor step to be flattened;
  • Second, the battery pack control module was moved from the top to the front and rear sections, further reducing the floor thickness by 180mm, which also allowed the second-row floor to be flattened;
  • Third, a super-large 60L fuel tank was fitted between the battery and the electric drive without compromising range.
  • After these three steps, the rear floor thickness is only 298mm, achieving a completely flat floor that runs through the passenger cabin and trunk, measuring up to 2.9m in length, with a floor angle of only 2.95°, close to horizontal.

    Next, let's look at lateral space. The wheel arch area is key to achieving a square layout. It contains tires, suspension arms, springs, shock absorbers, air conditioning ducts, etc., making the layout extremely compact. We made three core optimizations:

  • First, a separated design for springs and shock absorbers;
  • Second, redesigned shock absorber angles to occupy less interior space;
  • Third, adoption of an integrated H-arm link suspension, which offers higher structural strength and occupies less space.
  • Additionally, the rear air conditioning ducts are designed to fit closely to the body. These optimizations significantly reduce the impact of wheel arches on cabin space, with usable cabin area reaching up to 4.4 square meters.
  • In summary, while making so many adjustments to the chassis of the Xiaomi Pengcheng series, we did not sacrifice passability or suspension comfort. The entire Xiaomi Pengcheng lineup comes standard with front double wishbone and rear H-arm multi-link independent suspension, four hydraulic bushings (front and rear), and supports 5-level adjustable air springs and continuous damping variable shock absorbers. Regardless of the model, you get a completely flat floor comparable to an MPV when sitting inside, and an SUV handling experience when driving.
