The airbag that deploys for the front passenger is the uniquely shaped front passenger airbag, which comes standard on all Xiaomi YU7 models.
Standard airbags expand into a circular or oval "air cushion." The core difference of the uniquely shaped airbag lies in its side wings—they are significantly larger, expanding like a "wrapping protective cover" that can "cradle" the head, reducing the risk of lateral sliding out. This is a specialized optimization for the head movement trajectory of the front passenger during a collision.
The YU7 comes standard with 7 airbags. The left and right side curtain airbags have a length of 2206mm and adopt a downward-curved design—not only protecting front-row occupants but also covering the heads of rear-row occupants to prevent them from hitting the door panels or windows. In 25% small overlap and side collision tests, the curtain airbags and uniquely shaped airbags work together to achieve multi-directional protection for both front and rear row occupants.
