Can the YU7's anti-scrape bottom beam and "bulletproof coating" really protect the battery?

Official answer

The new energy vehicle-specific tests include battery underbody impact and whole-vehicle scraping tests. The YU7 achieved the highest G rating thanks to these three lines of defense:

  • First Line: 1500MPa Anti-Scrape Bottom Beam. This beam is located in front of the battery pack and sits lower off the ground than the battery pack itself. Rocks and obstacles on the road hit the beam first, being pushed aside or deflected, so the battery pack does not directly bear the impact. Its role is to "clear the path"—removing obstacles before they reach the battery.
  • Second Line: Energy-Absorbing Structure of the Battery Pack Front Frame Beam. A dedicated frame beam is designed at the front of the battery pack. In the event of a collision, it collapses first to absorb energy, attenuating the impact force before it reaches the battery pack.
  • Third Line: "Bulletproof Coating" Composite Underbody Shield. This is the same technology used in the SU7 Ultra. Its scratch and tear resistance is 10 times higher than traditional PVC coatings, and its puncture resistance is 13 times higher. In scraping tests, even if the bottom of the battery contacts an obstacle, the composite underbody shield provides protection, preventing damage to the battery cells.
  • The three lines of defense, standard on all YU7 models, combine to form a "triple insurance" for bottom protection. These new energy vehicle-specific tests essentially simulate real-world scenarios: underbody impacts from speed bumps in parking lots, scraping from foreign objects on the road, etc.—the YU7 minimizes battery pack damage in these scenarios.
