Some users reported being unable to unplug the charging gun at Tesla charging stations. What is the reason?

Official answer

Recently, some users encountered situations where they could not normally unplug the charging gun after charging their Xiaomi SU7 using a Tesla AC home charging pile. We contacted the users through customer service and have clarified the issue as follows:

Upon analysis, we found that after the vehicle started charging, due to severe three-phase voltage imbalance in the user's community power grid, the vehicle's On-Board Charger (OBC) system continuously reported errors 3 times and entered charging protection mode. Consequently, it did not respond to the user's unlock command.

Since the voltage balance of the power grid varies across different communities, we will also optimize the operating mechanism that enters charging protection mode due to error reports via OTA in the future. Additionally, if the user encounters an unlocking failure with the charging gun, they can use the emergency release cable to unlock it. The operation is as follows:

First, click "Stop Charging" on the vehicle infotainment system, then open the trunk.

Use appropriate tools to remove the trunk maintenance cover and locate the unlock cable switch.

Pull the emergency unlock cable for the charging gun towards the front of the car to unlock the charging gun, allowing it to be removed normally.
