Why does the LiDAR report a fault and become unavailable when encountering rain?

Official answer

The LiDAR can be used normally during light or moderate rain, and intelligent driving assistance can also be enabled.

During heavy or torrential rain, due to water droplets adhering to the LiDAR window and reflections from standing water on the road, most of the LiDAR point cloud data disappears. This situation leads to a decrease in the LiDAR's obstacle detection performance, resulting in a report that the LiDAR is unavailable.

We also remind everyone that under severe weather conditions (such as snow, ice, heavy fog, sandstorms, etc.), please do not enable intelligent driving assistance functions.
