Long-term Episode 97 · Question 2

If a collision occurs, will all airbags deploy? How many airbags does the Xiaomi SU7 have, and where are they located?

Official answer

Whether airbags deploy depends on a comprehensive judgment of factors such as collision position and speed. Not every collision will trigger airbag deployment, as this could lead to unnecessary repair costs for users. Airbags may not deploy in certain situations, such as being rear-ended or colliding with slender objects, where the conditions for triggering the airbag sensors are not met. For details, please refer to the user manual.

Regarding the number of airbags, the Xiaomi SU7 comes standard with 7 airbags across all trims. The front passenger airbag features an irregular design, with protective wings on both sides that effectively prevent occupants' heads from hitting hard objects like the center console or center screen. The extra-long left and right side curtain airbags, measuring 2040mm in length, adopt a cavity downward-bending design, effectively preventing occupants' heads from hitting hard objects like door panels. The specific locations of the airbags are as follows:

The driver's airbag is located inside the steering wheel cover.

The front passenger airbag is located inside the dashboard of the front passenger seat.

The front left airbag is located on the left side of the driver's seat.

The front right airbag is located on the right side of the front passenger seat.

The far-end airbag is located on the right side of the driver's seat.

The left curtain airbag is located inside the left roof side beam of the vehicle.

The right curtain airbag is located inside the right roof side beam of the vehicle.

In addition, under the new testing regulations of the China Insurance Automotive Safety Index (hereinafter referred to as C-IASI), where testing difficulty and rating rules have been comprehensively upgraded, the Xiaomi SU7 still achieved excellent results of 3G+ and A. This means: Occupant Safety Index G+ (highest rating), Pedestrian Safety Index G+ (highest rating), Vehicle Assist Safety Index G+ (highest rating), and Crashworthiness and Repairability Index A. Furthermore, in the driver-side frontal 25% offset crash, passenger-side frontal 25% offset crash, frontal 50% offset crash, and side impact tests, the Xiaomi SU7 received zero-defect evaluations for occupant protection. The Xiaomi SU7 is also the only sedan among the first batch of test models under the new C-IASI regulations to achieve 3G+ and A ratings. This sufficiently demonstrates the excellent safety performance of the Xiaomi SU7, so please rest assured.
