What is going on with the online video showing a Xiaomi SU7 hitting a guardrail and catching fire?
We have learned from the user involved that the traffic management department has issued a traffic accident liability determination at the scene: improper driver operation caused damage to the municipal central guardrail, resulting in the vehicle being burned.
The specific details we understand are as follows:
On November 15, 2024, around 19:03, a Xiaomi SU7 collided continuously with the metal isolation fence in the center of the road while driving on Xingui Road, Huangpu District, Guangzhou City, and subsequently caught fire. After rescue by fire services, the fire was extinguished, and there were no injuries at the scene. Following the accident, Xiaomi Auto service personnel arrived at the scene immediately to assist with fire safety and handle the matter with the user.
Preliminary on-site investigation revealed obvious traces of fences and fence bases being crushed under the chassis and dragged/scraped on the bottom of the vehicle battery; local areas of the chassis showed scraping and rupture, and parts of the battery had obvious puncture holes. Preliminary technical analysis indicates the fire was caused by severe collision, with no signs of fire between the passenger cabin and the battery.
