Why were cardboard boxes used for the AEB safety assist test during the livestream?
This test primarily verifies the AEB safety assist system's ability to recognize irregularly shaped obstacles. Low obstacles like cardboard boxes are harder to identify than conventional targets like vehicles and pedestrians, placing higher demands on the system's recognition capabilities.
Xiaomi AEB's ability to recognize targets continues to expand. In addition to common targets like vehicles, pedestrians, and two-wheelers, it can recognize common obstacles such as water-filled barriers and crash barrels at forward speeds of 20-135 km/h. It has also added the ability to recognize irregularly shaped obstacles of a certain size, such as cardboard boxes, stones, and tires.
During this livestream, we simulated a scenario where cargo falls from a truck on a clear, sunny day. The YU7 Standard Edition drove towards the cardboard boxes at speeds of 60 km/h and 80 km/h, respectively, achieving test results of timely obstacle recognition and stable braking to a complete stop.
