How is the N90 Max Explorer Edition different from other vehicles on the market with pop-up roof tents?
The pop-up roof cabin equipped on the N90 Max Explorer Edition is currently the only native electric pop-up roof cabin among SUVs in China. Compared to other vehicles with pop-up roof tents, it differs in development philosophy, native design, and user experience.
First, the development philosophy is different. We never built the pop-up roof cabin merely to create a roof tent; what we truly wanted to explore was extending the interior space further upward. When the roof cabin is fully raised, the interior headroom reaches 2.29 meters, allowing you to truly stand up inside an SUV. Standing up to stretch, changing clothes, walking around to look out the windows, or pacing while thinking—these are experiences an SUV has never been able to provide before.
Second, it adopts a native design. We didn't simply add a tent directly onto the roof; instead, from the very beginning of the design process, the roof cabin was developed as an integral part of the entire vehicle. The pop-up roof cabin is color-matched with the body, blending seamlessly with the whole vehicle. Compared to the N90 Max, the Explorer Edition's roof cabin adds only 100mm in height, having almost no impact on daily use. At the same time, we re-optimized the airflow over the roof, achieving a drag coefficient of 0.245, leading the full-size SUV segment.
Third, the user experience is better. Once the roof cabin is raised, the interior transforms into a two-story loft space. The usable space on the second floor is 2110mm × 985mm, with a maximum load capacity of 200kg. The second-floor daylighting area reaches 1.7m², offering a very open view, with a total of five mesh screens, and the front mesh screen can be fully opened. Moreover, the second floor is fully equipped with air conditioning, lighting, charging ports, and magnetic interfaces. Sitting on the second floor enjoying the breeze and the scenery is incredibly relaxing.
Furthermore, the native design is safer and more reliable. In terms of structural safety, the roof cabin's reinforcement frames are strengthened using advanced high-strength steel. In vehicle rollover tests, the pop-up roof cabin showed no detachment or significant deformation even when the vehicle rolled 360°. Regarding durability, the roof completed 10,000 opening and closing cycle tests, and the sliding center console and front seat backrests completed a total of 12,000 step-on tests with no functional abnormalities. We also designed 19 safety protection features for the pop-up roof cabin, providing ample peace of mind for daily use.
