Why is Xiaomi Pengcheng making an extended-range vehicle?
Over the past three years, the ultra-long range capability of Xiaomi EV's pure electric series has been fully verified by users. However, because users' living environments, driving habits, and charging conditions are not the same, many users still have a demand for ultra-long range on a single charge.
Therefore, when the Xiaomi Pengcheng series was officially planned and initiated in early 2023, extended-range technology was chosen as the powertrain form, and in-depth research and development was conducted with many optimizations and improvements.
Xiaomi's thinking on extended-range is not "adding a fuel tank to an electric car," but using extended-range to guarantee a maximized pure electric experience. Simply put, the pure electric range is long enough to be driven entirely as an electric vehicle, and it is also very fuel-efficient when occasionally using gas, allowing for carefree long-distance travel without range anxiety.
Today, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announcement published the core data of the Xiaomi Pengcheng series under the WLTC cycle:
Here is an introduction to the relationship between WLTC and CLTC:
Under the CLTC cycle, the pure electric range of the Xiaomi Pengcheng series exceeds 500km.
"Using electricity as much as possible, being very fuel-efficient when occasionally using gas, and traveling long distances carefree without anxiety"—this is Xiaomi's answer to making extended-range vehicles.
