Some online users reported that the fender of the Xiaomi SU7 fell off. What caused this?
After verification, only individual vehicles have experienced fender detachment issues, and all affected vehicles had driven through water at high speeds.
From the initial design phase of the Xiaomi SU7, we fully considered rainwater wading scenarios and conducted rigorous high-speed wading condition tests. These included passing through wet roads at 60km/h, medium-to-high water levels at 20km/h, and even low-speed slow passage through 300mm high water levels. In all tests, the Xiaomi SU7 remained intact with no damage to any components.
We currently cannot confirm the specific water depth, passing speed, steering posture, or whether there were local deep pits or scrapes on the road surface for the accident vehicles at the time.
Additionally, since the entire Xiaomi SU7 lineup adopts aerodynamic design, water flows through the fender air ducts when driving on flooded roads. If driven at high speeds exceeding standard conditions, high-speed water flow significantly increases the impact force on the fender.
We recommend that everyone judge the water depth in advance and drive slowly when passing through flooded road sections. When unable to determine the water depth, it is advisable to detour rather than attempt to pass forcefully. We are further following up and analyzing such extreme condition cases.
