What is CTB technology? What are the specific advantages of Xiaomi Auto's CTB technology?

Official answer

CTB stands for Cell to Body, which is an electric vehicle manufacturing technology that directly integrates the battery system into the vehicle chassis. Battery-body integration is the trend of industry development. So far, multiple new energy vehicle brands have developed and applied CTB technology.

Xiaomi Auto's CTB possesses numerous technological innovations. The battery pack upper cover serves both the function of the vehicle floor and seat crossbeams. High-load areas use high-strength steel and ultra-high-strength steel, accounting for up to 95%, to meet the weight requirements of seats and passengers. In terms of safety, battery-body integration can bring ultra-high body torsional stiffness. The Xiaomi YU7 body torsional stiffness is 47,610 N·m/deg, which is at the industry-leading level. Additionally, the pressure relief valves of all series battery cells do not face upwards. In extreme scenarios of single-cell thermal runaway, this prevents heat from transferring to the passenger cabin, so please rest assured.

Furthermore, CTB technology significantly improves battery volume efficiency, bringing larger battery storage space compared to traditional battery integration methods, effectively increasing driving range. Taking the Xiaomi YU7 as an example, the battery volume efficiency reaches up to over 80%, leading the industry in battery volume efficiency, with a CLTC driving range of up to 835km; the thickness of the battery and vehicle floor is only 120mm, balancing ultra-long range and passenger cabin space, resulting in a lower center of gravity, more stable driving, and greater safety.
